Mia = "Mine".

It really happened. There is no way we can sort through all the photos and emotions yet, but we want to announce the adoption of the most adorable girl in China. The girl is beautiful.

We took a bus to the Civil Affairs office with the other families, and waited in a very hot, smoky, nerve-filled room until 9:10am, and then suddenly 3 beautiful little girls entered in their nannies' arms. As you will see, Pinyi cried hard when they handed her over, but she stopped within 5 minutes and hasn't cried again (yet!). We set her down once to see her cute walk, but her lip quivered, so we swooped her up again. Plenty of time, later, for her to show us her moves. We've even had a few smiles already, a word when pointing at an airplane, and good eating and drinking. Other than that, just a lot of serious adorableness.

We got a chance to talk to the nanny, and she told us her schedule, foods, etc. She also said when we visit the orphanage later this week, they will show us the burn on her leg and how to care for it. That was a relief.

More later--and many more pictures to come. For now, enjoy two videos

First, THE moment.

Second, an hour later. I think she likes us :)

  4. Ok, now that I have had some time to process, I think I may be able to find some better words to express how happy I am for you all than just "WOO HOOOO!" (though "woo hooooo!" gets pretty close). Like all your friends and family, I woke up this morning to rush to my computer and see if it had really happened. I think a little part of me thought maybe this cycle of waiting and frustration and more waiting would continue on for years - maybe the rest of your lives. And this thought has made me incredibly sad.

    But the joy I felt this morning, when I saw these sweet photos and read your sweet words and watched through tears at your sweet videos, trumped the sadness and waiting tenfold. I could not even get close to imagining how you must of felt to meet your daughter for the first time. So, all this to say, a simple and heartfelt "congratulations" and "welcome home" to you all.
